Counseling for holistic individuals motivated for personal growth and change.
In the past few years, have you gone through a stressful or traumatic event? Perhaps you have gotten a divorce or lost someone you loved or had a bad accident. Have you found yourself using alcohol to cope with the resulting symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, agitation or other stress related symptoms? If this describes you then I can help with a personalized assessment.
First, most treatment is focused on individuals with severe, life threatening disorders. While treatment for high acuity individuals is absolutely necessary and needed, alcohol use disorder is a spectrum ranging from mild to moderate to severe and there are far less options for individuals with mild or moderate use disorder. Often these individuals do not seek help because they are unaware of the resources available besides residential inpatient treatment.
Second, most individuals with mild to moderate alcohol use disorder are looking for harm reduction modalities rather than strictly abstinence based programs.
Finally navigating mental health resources can be confusing and overwhelming. There are thousands of options all with great websites giving almost the exact same messaging. How do you choose?
Complete assessment tools which are personalized to your needs
Discuss current symptoms and problematic patterns
Explore your history of substance use including genetic pre-dispositions
Receive recommendations on the appropriate level of care, the right approach and modalities to help you
Please note that this is not intervention services or crisis management. Although I can share reputable resources for both. This service is for highly motivated and functioning adults who are looking for personalized support to help them make positive changes regarding their relationship with alcohol.
